My Story:
Hi, I’m Millie — the baker, dreamer, and hands behind Millie’s Bakery.
Baking has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. Some of my earliest memories are standing on a chair in the kitchen, covered in flour, helping (and sometimes hindering!) my mum and granny. They both taught me not just how to bake, but to put love and care into everything I make.
In early 2024, after spending six months perfecting my sister’s wedding cake, I realised that university wasn’t where my heart was. I had been studying Wildlife Conservation and Ecology, but it became clear my true passion was in baking - so I took a leap of faith and followed my dream.
I started small, baking at home and selling at local markets like Harborough Indoor Market and the Leicestershire County Show. The support I received from customers was incredible and gave me the confidence to keep growing.
Just one year later, an amazing opportunity came up - to take over The Old Stableyard Tearoom at Holdenby House. With just a couple of months to prepare, I opened the tearoom in April 2025, adding a whole new chapter to my story. For more information on this please see the Tearoom page.
Today, Millie’s Bakery is all about fresh, homemade bakes - from organic sourdough breads and custom cakes to sweet treats - made with love, from my family kitchen to you. I’m excited to keep expanding the menu at the tearoom and to continue building a bakery that’s full of heart, flavour, and creativity.
